These figures are collected by DCI/PS filed workers. Please check this page often for updates, particularly on child injuries, as the situation on the ground in Gaza creates challenges for the data collection process. Thus, it difficult for DCI to confirm deaths and injuries as well as provide additional background information on these children the same day that events occur.

Name Mahmoud Hassan Abu Hamada
Age 17
Location NGaza
Cause Shelling
Additional Information At around 07:00 on 6 November 2006, Ramzi Merrefak Sherafi, 17 years old, Mahmoud Hassan Abu Hamada, 17 years old, Nader Al Sufi, 17 years old, and Mohammed Al Harfi, 17 years old went to their school to see if they had lessons or not at their school Ahmad Shokari, west of Beit Hanoun, after Israeli forces had left the area. The street that they were walking down was muddy so they decided to go another way on the land near the office location of Kataeb Shu Hada Al Aqsa. As they crossed the land, they saw a rocket launcher and began to discuss whether to take it with them or not. The boys decided against it and walked towards the Jablaya Youth Club, which neighboured the land. They changed their mind and Nader suddenly ran back to collect it and then returned with it to join the boys in the doorway of the building. The cable connected to the launcher was around 7m long, and Mahmoud began to wind it up to make it easier to carry. At this time they heard an Israeli spy-plane in the air above them. They immediately dropped the launcher and ran into the Youth Club. They ran through the building to the door leading to the main street. The spy-plane then fired a missile towards the main street. The missile fell around 15 metres away from a school bus picking up children to take to Andira Ghandi kindergarten. The kindergarten supervisor and 16 children, including the boys, were wounded. Ramzi was fatally injured by shrapnel in his chest, abdomen and arms. Mahmoud was injured in his chest and neck and died on 12 November 2006.
